Now this is PERFECT if you are wanting to do a painting activity for your baby. But you don’t need to worry about your baby eating the paint, because these finger paints are edible! So not only is your baby or child having fun painting but they are also exploring different tastes! Read on to to find out how to make your very own edible finger paints!

I got this idea from my 150 screen free activities book make sure you go and check it out and it’s definately worth investing in!

Edible finger paints

Using a blender add a little bit of plain yogurt into a blender and mix with some beetroot. Blend together and pop into a paint tray or baking tray perhaps!

Same as above, but mix plain yogurt with either some peeled and cooked carrot or cooked butternut squash.

Mix some plain yogurt with some powdered turmeric!

Mix some plain yogurt with some spinach

Speckled Brown

Mix some plain yogurt with some powdered cinnamon!

Blend some plain yogurt with some blueberries

These recipes are taste safe and naturally dyed finger paints so they are perfect for babies and young children who like to pop their fingers in their mouth.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle of preparing these colours though you could just use plain yogurt and one drop of food dye instead and mix well. The book says that it would be food safe but just be aware that some people can be allergic to food dyes and it’s up to you which method you would prefer to try! The first method seems the most fun to me personally in my opinion – just as your child can explore with their taste and smell too!
